![]() My first experiences with ArtStudio Pro were extremely bad, pretty much entirely due to UI stuff that's long since been fixed. If you have any experience with Photoshop, ArtStudio Pro will probably feel more familiar, even down to things like menu items being in the same place. ![]() Not because Procreate is bad - it's outstanding - but because ArtStudio Pro is much better for me. I've basically stopped using Procreate in favor of ArtStudio Pro. ![]() I know some people may want to fight me on this opinion, but my point isn’t that ASP is functionally bad if you know what you’re doing (it has a ton of features), it’s that it is really hard to learn, not super intuitive, and you might as well just use Photoshop itself. I think you will have a much MUCH easier time looking up unknown things in Photoshop than you would with ASP. If ASP had an extensive, thorough, documented set of written guides on all its features, none of my complaints would matter because you could always just take 30 seconds to look a feature up or spend time reading about the app (which is how I learned new things in procreate). Like, it took me ages of scouring forums and google searches to look up even some basic features, and 80% of them are other people just asking the same question. ASP has only a handful YouTube tutorials, but who has time to scrub through all of them in hopes that they happen mention what you’re looking for? They don’t even cover everything. OMG I almost forgot! ASP also has NO MANUALS or good help for how to use it! There’s no way to look up where to find features and what they do. It’s solved a lot of problems during its time to get to where it is now, and based on my awful couple hours with ASP trying to do even the most simplest things I would highly recommend against ASP. I don’t know what is worth more to you based on what your goals are, but I find Photoshop itself very intuitive. Recent reviews were saying that they made changes to the app that apparently made it less intuitive (maybe trying to be more like procreate?) which explains why I had trouble with it even though I have a strong background in both procreate and photoshop. LOVE Procreate.Īnyway, I had heard that ASP was good for people coming from a Photoshop background, but I actually hated its interface. My background: over a decade of advanced Photoshop experience, and been using Procreate for several months. I just wanted to make a circle and it was not intuitive or clear how to even do that. I’ll be honest, I really really didn’t like ASP when I tried it recently.
